HELLBOY (2005) I love the Hellboy character and wanted to do a submission with him. But he's a tricky character. Mike Mignola's art is so very recognizable, that sometimes Hellboy drawn in a different style doesn't look like Hellboy. So I looked at a lot of Mignola art before doing these pages, not to copy his style so much, but just as a guide to how he would tackle certain artistic situations. I discovered that Mignola really is a master of black and shadows, the things he can convey in a few simple strokes are very impressive. I know that's kind of a known fact among the comic geek crowd, but I guess I never took the time to notice. He's a great artist. Anyway, this is my feeble attempt at Hellboy. Enjoy!
